Daruma Tech Extends Contract to Support MPO’s Website

Moving People, Creating Jobs, and Strengthening Communities

BOCA RATON, FLORIDA, UNITED STATES, January 15, 2019 / Florida-based software developer Daruma Tech has signed an extended contract with the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for continued support for its modern and interconnected website.

The MPO contract extension for web support will include future website design, enhancements, hosting, and maintenance. This achievement marks the latest in a series of projects Daruma Tech has been awarded for public sector and government clients, based on their record of successful support and execution, as well as their expertise in ADA compliance, a priority for governmental agencies. The MPO contract extension comes on the heels of Daruma Tech’s recently awarded contract to build a new Tri-Rail mobile app for the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority (SFRTA).

The MPO’s clean and easy to navigate website, which Daruma Tech developed for the MPO, reflects the broad scope of the MPO’s challenging mission to plan, budget, and prioritize the transportation needs of the nearly 2 million residents of Broward County, Florida. Since Broward County, a metropolitan region in southeast Florida, is the second-most-populous county in Florida and includes the cities of Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, and Pompano Beach, it’s critical that the site be current, easy to navigate, engaging, and useful.

Daruma Tech was tapped for the project in part because of its outstanding experience with and understanding of the needs of the governmental sector. “Public organizations want to use taxpayer funds responsibly,” said Susan Erickson of Daruma Tech. “We respect their logistical and budgetary constraints, and know how to do great work that delights their communities while staying on budget. The MPO had the opportunity to see us at work with our original design for their website, and we’re thrilled that they chose to have us help them again on a continuing basis.”

Besides extensive information about the MPO’s projects, mission, and organization, the site includes a calendar of events, videos, and interactive maps that allow users to explore and learn more about the MPO’s many projects and their community impacts. The site also includes archives of past MPO projects as well as a list of employment opportunities and links for applications.

Because of the dynamic nature of the MPO’s many activities, the site requires regular updates and quality checks to ensure it stays accurate and relevant. “Our experience as developers, marketers, and communicators is the key to our success with public organizations like the MPO,” Erickson said. “The ability to respond quickly to public concerns is critical for them, and we have the technical and PR skills to enable them to communicate effectively with their communities.”

Daruma Tech is a privately held software design firm based in the Research Park at Florida Atlantic University® in Boca Raton, Florida.
